For the past 5 years we have always been to Shenyang/China for the World Championship. This year it is Guilin, a beautiful city in the South of China. Guilin is known for its nature, mountains, lakes and now for a great place to hold the Women World 9-Ball Championship. The opening ceremony was absolutely impressive as well. It took place in a huge event arena with thousands of people. After we were presented on stage, different musicians entertained the crowd for over an hour.
The tournament will be played with 8 groups of 8 players and a double knock out system. I am in group H together with Kelly Fisher (GBR), Jeanette Lee (USA), Chihiro Kawahara (JPN), Wu Jing (CHN), Denise Wilkinson (NZL), Jiang Teng (CHN) and Barbara Bolfelli (ITA).
It is a race to 7 games in the group stages with alternate breaking.
Day 1 (Wednesday 15th of October 2014)
Match 1 at 6 pmJasmin Ouschan vs. Chihiro Kawahara (JPN) Score: 6:7Match 2 at 8 pm Jasmin Ouschan vs. Kelly Fisher (GBR) Score: 5:7 “After last years disappointing result, I can´t believe it happened again like this. In my first match I was trailing 1:5 but I fought back to 6:6. A foul shot on the break gave her the opportunity to run out and kick me into the losers round. But on top of that I faced Kelly Fisher (GBR), World Champion of 2013, in the losers round after she lost to Jeanette Lee (USA). The match went back and forth but a bad mistake at 5:6 was my last ball to play. She ran out the rack to win it with 5:7.” “I am just so disappointed and speechless. I have spent so much time to prepare for this event and I felt good and happy about my game but this result is shocking. Now I can just try to find the energy to recover and keep going.”
