Take five eight ball pool stars with 9 world titles between them. A nine ball star and a professional snooker player and what do you get. Answer, the Professional Pool Masters at the South West Snooker Academy at Gloucester.

Just a quick look at some of the names involved gives you an idea of what a class field has assembled here at Gloucester. In action are the current world champion Adam Davis, the three times former world champion Gareth Potts. Throw in Phil Harrison and Chris Melling, fresh from his exertions in the nine ball game and Alfie Burden and you have weekend of magic in the offing.

With all assembled at Gloucester, eagerly anticipating the draw the event was hit with the withdrawal of former world champion Mick Hill because of a neck spasm. His place in the draw went to Ben Davies.

So to the draw and with all the players minus Davies assembled in the Kay Suzanne Theatre the names were duly pulled out as a random draw and it threw up some intriguing matches.

Alfie Burden v Aiden Finch

Gareth Potts v Lee Clough

Phil Harrison v Morray Dolan
