Defending Betfair World Snooker champion Ronnie O'Sullivan won five out of the eight frames played tonight in his semi-final against Judd Trump, and he will no doubt be thrilled to finish 14-10 overnight.

Trump, not being able to maintain the consistancy that he showed in the previous two sessions, lost the first two frames to go 11-7 behind. However the International champion responded in top style, making a 117 break to keep himself in the match.

O'Sullivan once again showed his class and took the next three frames and looked to be running away with the session before Trump made a fantastic run of 60 followed by nicking the next, scrappier frame to keep himself in contention at 13-10 behind.

But it wouldn't last for long as the the four-times world champion made a classy break of 89 to once again give himself a four frame cushion and leave himself needing only three frames for a place in this Sunday's Betfair World Snooker Championship final.

O'Sullivan managed to land himself in hot water once again today as he was spotted making an 'obscene gesture' whilst sat in his chair at one point during the match, read more about the incident here.

The Rocket looks most likely at this halfway stage to be facing two-times ranking event winner Ricky Walden as the man from Chester holds a 9-7 lead over Barry Hawkins in their semi-final match.

Both players are featuring for the first time in the one-table setup at the Crucible and it was Australian Open champion Hawkins who seemed to struggle the most as Walden took a 6-2 lead at the end of the first session.

Hawkins who's top break of the match so far has been only 47, managed to nick the 15th and 16th to narrow the gap behind his opponent before Wuxi Classic champion Walden made a 53 to regain his two frame cushion. They play their concluding two sessions tomorrow, if Hawkins is to win he needs to start scoring a lot heavier than he has recently.
